A Message from your PTO president

On behalf of the PTO, welcome back to school! I sincerely hope that all of our new and returning Concord Wildcats families had a healthy and enjoyable summer.  We’re entering uncharted waters this school year, but I’m confident that together we will make this a wonderful year for everyone in our Concord community.

I wanted to take a minute to share a little bit about me and our PTO. I've lived in Edina for 11 years and worked for Target prior to having kids. My husband, Chad and I, have boy/girl twins entering 3rd grade in Mrs. Schwartz' class I am honored to serve as your PTO president and excited to share some of the amazing things our PTO has planned this year.

The mission of the Concord PTO is to enhance the Concord experience for all students, teachers and staff by providing community building events and raising supplemental funds to support programming, resources and special projects.

The PTO is comprised of more than 100 parent volunteers and an executive board that partners with the Concord faculty and leadership to bring our mission to life. Our activities, fundraising and communications will focus on the following priorities for the 2020-2021 school year:

New Concord Playground

The Edina School District has allocated funding for 2021 to build the foundation and underground structure for a new Concord playground to replace the current one built in 1995. The Concord PTO, like many PTOs nationwide, is responsible for raising the funds for all playground equipment.

Our fundraising kicked off in 2018 to take advantage of this opportunity to create a playground that is accessible and equitable for all of the kids at Concord and in our community. We have $80,000 left to raise during the during the 2020-21 school year. We understand that now is a difficult time for everyone. We also know that the Concord community is one of the most engaged and generous communities in our area. Together, with your help, we will meet our ambitious goal.

Teacher Financial Classroom Support

The PTO provides all Concord teachers with an annual stipend to provide supplemental classroom resources to help enhance the learning and teaching experiences for Concord students and teachers. As we navigate our new hybrid and EVA models, we are trying to honor as many additional requests as we can.

Student Learning Subscription Tools

The PTO provides funding for online, subscription-based resources for all Concord students including: RAZ Kids, Mystery Science, Spelling City, Lyrics to Learn and Pebble Go, among others, to supplement classroom materials and instruction.

I hope you will join us in supporting these important priorities this year!

Sincerely,

Caron Trierweiler
